The graph below gives information on the numbers of participants for different activities at one social center in Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

1. Idea cho overview

Khi viết về line graph, team academic IELTS 1984 chúng mình sẽ tìm điểm nổi bật nhất trong trend (xu hướng) và differences (sự khác biệt). Cụ thể như sau:

- Trend:

+ Chỉ có số người tham gia amateur dramatics giảm

+ Số người tham gia table tennis & musical performance tăng

+ Số người tham gia film club & martial arts tương đối ổn định

- Differences: số người tham gia film club luôn đứng đầu

2. Cách phân body

Với line graph này, chúng mình sẽ phân body theo line. Và đây cũng là cách tiếp cận nhất quán mà team academic IELTS 1984 chúng mình luôn ưu tiên khi biên soạn tạp chí.

- Body 1: tả 3 đường biến động nhiều nhất (amateur dramatics, table tennis và musical performances)

- Body 2: tả 2 đường ổn định hơn (martial arts và film club)

3. Cách tả từng câu

Body 1:

- (Câu 1) Tả số liệu năm đầu của amateur dramatics (26 người), cao hơn table tennis, trong khi musical performances thì chưa có ai tham gia.

- (Câu 2) Amateur dramatics: tăng từ 25 lên 28 người, sau đó giảm đều xuống còn 10 người ở năm cuối

- (Câu 3) Table tennis có số người tham gia là khoảng 20 người trong 5 năm đầu, sau đó nhảy vọt lên 55 người vào năm cuối.

- (Câu 4) Sau 2005 thì musical performances mới bắt đầu tăng, kết thúc giai đoạn ở mức 20 người.

Body 2:

- (Câu 1) Martial arts thì ổn định hơn khi chỉ dao động quanh từ 32 đến 38 người.

- (Câu 2) Tương tự, film club cũng duy trì số lượng thành viên nhiều nhất của nó (từ 60-65 người) suốt 20 năm.

4. Paraphrasing & Vocabulary

Vì phải tả số người tham gia hoạt động xuyên suốt, nên chúng ta sẽ cần paraphrase các từ participation - participants khá nhiều lần:

- Participation: attendance number, (level of) engagement, membership

- Participants:

+ members (dùng cho film club)

+ players (chỉ dùng cho table tennis)

+ practitioners (chỉ dùng cho martial arts)

The line graph illustrates participant numbers of five activities at a social center in Melbourne, Australia between 2000 and 2020.

Overall, the film club consistently attracted the most members throughout the period. Furthermore, although amateur dramatics declined in participation, table tennis and musical performances experienced growth, while attendance numbers for the film club and martial arts exhibited relative stability over the 20 years.

Looking first at activities with large changes in activity levels, at the start of the period, about 26 people took part in amateur dramatics, exceeding table tennis by 8 participants, whereas musical performances did not start until after 2005. The amateur dramatics group saw a marked reduction in membership and, after having 25 to 28 members in the first five years, it fell steadily after 2005, ending up with only ten. In contrast, around 20 people played table tennis from 2000 to 2010, after which a rise in popularity was seen, and at the end of the period, there were 55 table tennis players. Concerning musical performances, participation steadily picked up from zero in 2000 and 2005, ending up at just under 20 people in 2020.

Regarding the remaining activities, a more stable trend was observed in martial arts, as its level of engagement fluctuated between 32 and 38 practitioners throughout the period. Similarly, the film club maintained its initial dominant popularity with between 60 and 65 participants, with minimal change over two decades. (237 words)
