Some people think that young people should follow traditions of the society. While other people think that young people should be free to behave as individuals. Discuss both the views and give your opinion.

🌿Idea và cách lập luận:

Với topic là: "giới trẻ nên tuân theo các chuẩn mực truyền thống của xã hội hay nên được tự do thể hiện cá tính" => Team academic IELTS 1984 nghiêng về việc nên cho giới trẻ nhiều tự do hơn trong cách sống và ứng xử.

Với quan điểm như vậy thì chúng ta sẽ lập luận như sau ở trong 2 đoạn body:

Body 1: Một số người nói việc làm theo những giá trị của xã hội có lợi.

Thứ nhất: việc này giúp làm giảm khoảng cách thế hệ trong gia đình → Dẫn đến ít mâu thuẫn giữa các thành viên trong gia đình

Thứ hai: Nó cũng góp phần gìn giữ những giá trị truyền thống → giúp người trẻ cảm thấy gắn bó và tự hào về nguồn gốc của họ

Body 2: Nhưng để người trẻ hành xử tự do có lợi nhiều hơn.

Giúp học phát triển hết tiềm năng của bản thân vì được theo đuổi đam mê → Dẫn đến nhiều đột phá trong công việc

Giúp cải thiện sức khỏe tinh thần vì họ không bị giới hạn bởi khuôn mẫu xã hội

🌿Phát triển ý:

Body 1: Những lợi ích của việc tuân theo giá trị truyền thống.

(Câu 1 - Topic sentence): Một số người cho rằng việc tuân theo những giá trị truyền thống của xã hội mang lại nhiều lợi ích đáng kể.

(Câu 2 - Lợi ích 1 - Lý do): Điều này giúp thu hẹp khoảng cách thế hệ (bridge generation gap) trong gia đình, bởi vì nó giúp người trẻ có điểm chung (find common ground) với thế hệ lớn hơn.

(Câu 3 - Tác động): Nhờ đó, thế hệ trẻ có thể thấu hiểu cách sống và suy nghĩ của thế hệ đi trước, giúp giảm thiểu những bất đồng (reduce conflicts) liên quan đến lối sống và quan điểm.

(Câu 4 - Lợi ích 2): Việc duy trì những phong tục tập quán đóng vai trò then chốt trong việc bảo tồn các giá trị văn hóa truyền thống.

(Câu 5 - Tác động): Những giá trị này giúp người trẻ cảm thấy gắn kết và tự hào (sense of belonging and pride) về nguồn gốc của họ, giúp họ cảm thấy gắn kết hơn với bản sắc của họ.

Body 2: Các lợi ích lớn hơn của việc được tự do quyết định cách sống.

(Câu 1 - Topic sentence): Tuy nhiên, việc để người trẻ được tự do quyết định cách sống sẽ mang lại những giá trị to lớn hơn, đặc biệt trong việc phát triển sự nghiệp và đảm bảo sức khỏe tinh thần.

(Câu 2 - Lợi ích 1): Khi không bị gò bó bởi các khuôn mẫu xã hội, họ có thể tự do theo đuổi đam mê và phát huy tối đa tiềm năng bản thân (maximize their potential)

(Câu 3 - Tác động): Sự tự do này sẽ thúc đẩy tư duy sáng tạo (foster creativity) và dẫn đến những đột phá (breakthroughs) đáng kể trong nhiều lĩnh vực, góp phần thúc đẩy sự phát triển của xã hội.

(Câu 4 - Lợi ích 2 - Lý do): Được sống theo cách mình mong muốn, không bị gò ép bởi những kỳ vọng xã hội (meeting societal expectations) sẽ giúp cải thiện đáng kể sức khỏe tinh thần.

(Câu 5 - Tác động): Nhờ đó, người trẻ có thể xây dựng được bản sắc cá nhân (sense of identity), giảm thiểu những lo âu và căng thẳng trong cuộc sống.

🌿Paraphrasing:

Trong bài này, chúng ta sẽ cần paraphrase các cụm từ sau nhiều lần:

Tuân theo truyền thống xã hội: conform to societal traditions and customs, preserving long-standing social customs, adhering to traditional values and practices, following traditions, maintain traditional cultural values.
Tự do thể hiện cá tính: embracing their individuality, not being restricted by social norms, individual freedom, act according to their personal values.

Some people think that young people should follow traditions of the society. While other people think that young people should be free to behave as individuals. Discuss both the views and give your opinion.

Opinions are divided on whether young people should conform to societal traditions and customs, or be allowed to express their individuality. Although the former may be advantageous, I contend that young people should act according to their own desires.

Admittedly, proponents of young people preserving long-standing social customs argue that this approach has certain advantages. Firstly, it helps bridge the generation gap within families, because adhering to traditional values and practices allows young people to find common ground with their older family members. Thus, it is easier for the youth to understand and appreciate the previous generations' way of life, reducing familial conflicts relating to different lifestyles and views. Another advantage of following traditions is that they contribute to maintaining a country's cultural values by keeping old customs alive across generations. This gives young people a sense of belonging and pride in their cultural identity and helps them feel more deeply connected to their heritage.

However, I believe that there are more significant benefits to young people embracing their individuality, relating to their career potential and mental health. Regarding the former, not being restricted by social norms allows young people to maximize their potential and brings them greater freedom to follow their passions, and more room to develop their unique talents. Such flexibility could foster their creativity and promote innovation, leading to breakthroughs in various fields, contributing to societal development. In terms of mental health, individual freedom promotes mental well-being when individuals are freed from the pressure of meeting societal expectations, such as pursuing higher education or choosing careers that are not approved of by their families. This independence gives young people a sense of identity, which can alleviate their anxiety and stress levels.

In conclusion, although some people claim that young individuals should maintain traditional cultural values, I support the view that they should act according to their personal values, as this enables them to reach their full potential and maintain better mental well-being through authentic self-expression.
